Can I take my bike on the train?

We have spaces for bikes, but these are limited.

On some of our services, we ask that you reserve a space when you buy your ticket, as far in advance as possible and at least 24 hours before you travel. Reservations are free - call us on 03333 211 202 for more information and to book. Our lines are open from 08:00 - 20:00 Monday to Saturday and 11:00 - 20:00 Sunday. Calls to our number are charged at local rates from a BT phone.

On services without reservations, bike spaces are available on a first come, first served basis.

Some of our busy trains between Cardiff and the South Wales valleys won’t have space for bikes during peak hours.

Electrically assisted pedal bikes (e-cycles) are allowed on our services under the same terms as standard pedal bikes. E-scooters are not allowed on our trains.

Why should you bring your bike on one of our trains?

Cycling is a convenient way to get from A to B that’s also cheaper and healthier. It’s a great way of seeing the sights, whether in a busy city or the countryside.

Where to store your bike on the train

Bike ImageLook out for the symbol on the outside of the train - ask the conductor if you’re not sure. Get on here and safely store your bike in the designated area.

Nearby, there may be fold down seats and spaces for wheelchair users and customers with young children in pushchairs. Please help us keep aisles and doors clear by offering fold down seats to these customers.
