Due to a points failure between Chester (CTR) and Helsby (HSB):
Services may be delayed by up to 60 minutes.
Services may be cancelled at Chester (CTR).
We expect the incident to last until 10:00 and disruption to services is expected from 05:41 until 11:00.
What's Happened?
We have been made aware of a points failure at Helsby.
As a result, train services will not be able to run through the area until the points have been fixed.
Our colleagues at Network Rail/Amey Infrastructure are aware of the problem and technicians are currently en route to the affected area/points.
We will publish more information here, once we have received an update from the infrastructure technicians.

Alternative Travel Options
Your ticket can be used on the following alternative routes to help you complete your journey, with the Train Operating Companies listed below at no extra cost:
- Merseyrail between Chester and Liverpool Lime Street
- Avanti West Coast between Chester, Crewe and Manchester Piccadilly
- Northern by any reasonable route.
These arrangements are in place on services until further notice.
If you decide to travel from a different station due to this disruption and need to return to that station later, you will also be able to use your existing ticket to do this at no extra cost.
