About Wrexham General

The town of Wrexham in Wales is served by two stations, Wrexham Central being the other.

After opening in 1846, it was expanded in 1912 to cope with increased passenger numbers. The rebuild was carried out by the Great Western Railway (GWR) in its famed 'French Pavilion' design, creating an easily recognised style complete with ornate crestings on the roof "towers".

After suffering damage from a runaway freight wagon in 1997, a refurbishment was required. This included new roofing and repointing the brickwork; however, the GWR style was retained overall.

Today, Wrexham General serves approximately half a million passengers leaving and arriving on the four platforms every year. If you’re planning on visiting, there’re plenty of things to enjoy in Wrexham. You can travel to and from Wrexham General by buying train tickets on our website or app today. There’re no booking fees when you buy an Advance ticket.
