Overview

Over the centuries Cwmbran has been served by several stations, the first opened in 1852, and closed just thirty years later. The current 2-platform station opened in 1986 to serve travellers between Newport and Cardiff, those going north to Manchester Piccadilly, and out to West Wales.

The 2008 refurbishment included improvements to passenger comfort by creating modern undercover seating facilities, live departure boards and an expansion to the car park. The ticket hall was also redesigned, and this small station now handles well over 200,000 passengers every year.
