Overview

Located on the Vale of Glamorgan’s stunning coastline, Barry Island is one of Wales’ favourite seaside resorts.

Its railway station is located on the Vale of Glamorgan line and opened in 1892 to serve an increasingly popular beach and waterfront. The current station building was designed by the architect William Henry Higgs and was built in 1904.

Get off the train and you’ll find yourself at the Pleasure Park, with its rollercoasters, carousel, water play area and much more. Best of all, it’s just across the road from the golden sands of the much-loved beach.

Did you know the station has had starring roles on TV? It was the setting for itself in the cult BBC series Gavin and Stacey. It also starred as Pontyberry railway station in the TV hit Stella.
